My favourite character had to be Rachel, she is so funny and quirky and I could guess she wasn't as hard faced as she seemed. At the beggining when Jo was kissing David I could not believe it. Jo from the previous book 'Split by a Kiss' would never cheat on Albie with david who is dating Rachel! As the story unfolded I was gripped and could not guess where Albie was. The format of the book was origional with What can I say?! The format of the book was origional with the book being form Rachel's point of view and only Jo's in the form of a diary. It said something I found wierd Rachel couldn't figure out how to use an electric kettle because she knows no one with one. Is this true that Americans generally don't have electric kettles? If it is true, that is wierd as walking into a home here which doesn't have a kettle means no one lives there! The only thing now which I can say as a negative is that it needs a sequel! Jul 24, Rebecca Smith rated it it was amazing. I loved this book so much. I must admit when I was reading the first few chapters I was so tempted to just put it down and forget about it but I am so glad I didn't! Mar 05, Hannah rated it it was amazing Shelves: Having read the preceding book in the 'By a Kiss' series and absolutely adoring it, I jumped to purchase this when I found there was another book set in the same world, with the focus on one of the other characters in the original book. Coming to the end of high school, the future is finally looking bright not too bright; she's 'gothically-inclined' for her, after a difficult and strained relationship with her mum and her dad view spoiler [ and half sister Queen Bee of the school, Chelsea Cook hide spoiler ] However, just before David is set to leave for an English music festival on his summer vacation, Rachel gets so jealous of David's flirtatious tendencies with girls - namely Jo, protagonist of the previous book, as she was said to have bonded with David as they were both Brits in America - whilst they are in a relationship. At the same time, Jo is in a seemly perfect relationship with boyfriend Albie, lead singer in local band 'The Madison Rats'. She feels pushed over the edge by him teasing that if he was an elementalist controlling weather and the elements , she would be a mentalist code word for crazy. To Rachel, with quite apparent psychological trauma stemming back to her unhappy childhood, this is a punch in the gut. So, she breaks up with him in the middle of the school cafeteria. But yet again, Rachel was in for another surprise - she hadn't thought this break up was any different to any others, where they break up and then get pulled back together by 'a powerful electromagnetic force than neither of us could ever resist'. But before they had the chance to reconcile, David left for England, leaving Rachel feeling rather sad and heart broken. Enter Tori: Jo's best friend and also Albie's younger sister during and since the events of the previous book. Her whole family is planning on taking the trip down to the festival, as it is the first major gig for the'Madison Rats' and their international premiere. Sadly, after Albie has flown out ahead of the rest of the family, Tori's mum badly twists her ankle and is no longer able to go. Furthermore, Tori's father feels it is his duty to look after his wife. So, Tori can't go Tori is mad that she is only allowed to go with an adult, since she is only 6 months younger than Albie himself he's her adoptive brother who was able to leave by himself. Tori comes up with a plan to try and reassure her parents by taking along someone they know. She decides to go against travelling with her 'practically-ex' boyfriend Topher, and opts for Rachel instead, although they aren't strictly friends, and are only connected through Jo. Rachel thinks Tori is a 'total-airhead' but still agrees, hoping to surprise David upon her arrival and that they would get back together. When they arrive, Rachel hunts down David's tent, only to discover that David is kissing another girl. And not just any girl - it's JO. Before David and Jo discover Rachel stood there, Rachel runs off to some ruins found near the festival site and makes a crazy wish - to become Jo. And then all of a sudden, she is A lesson about being jealous of other people, and also that what seems to be perfect on the outside can be a total mess on the inside. I also liked how Rachel and Jo learnt from each other than neither of the other's relationships were as perfect as they seemed. Jo thought David and Rachel were a fiery couple, full of passion and romance, but that also led to the occasional break-up. Rachel thought Jo had perfect everything, clothes, hair and the perfect 'rock-god' boyfriend Albie. Albie's mates assumed that the 'hot chick' that they saw in a photo was some other girl that Albie had on the go when it was actually his birth mother, at the time of his birth. Jo begged and begged Albie to wait until he was 18 and had moved out, but he would not listen. Jo did not feel she could keep the secret from the Windsors, especially not Tori, her best friend, and so Albie snapped at her and they broke up. A must read for fans of the 'Princess Diaries and other Meg Cabot works'. Aug 03, Aly Fantasy4eva rated it liked it Shelves: DO NOT read this review if you've not read the first. As I sat watching fantastical depressing anime I knew I had to cheer myself up, and what better way then reviewing a joyful book in the making? In split by a kiss we get to know Josie, what I realised through this book was how much I missed and had become fond of Josie. I also got an insight as to how others might see and perceive Josie from afar. Rachel envies Josie, now I never saw that coming at all! One of the things that I was eager to know more about were the characters Rachel and David because I felt there was a lot more to their story. So when I received Swapped by a kiss I had this big silly grin because I thought wow. Luisa Plaja was probably thinking the same thing! Just as I did with the previous book I dug right in and finished it within the day. When Rachel's boyfriend David invites her to a music festival she is not happy at all to see her boyfriend kissing Josie. Shes upset but not really surprised, I mean it's Josie right? Pretty, perfect she has it all, Rachel right then wishes she was Josie, and Josie wishes she was like Rachel, that she could have a relationship without complications and be carefree like Rachel. Well guess what they're going to get their wish and along the way discover boy where they wrong! What I love about the book that it tackle's a lot of teenage issues that I feel are important. Being insecure, having trust issues, being scared of rejection, feeling no one understands you, having your first crush, having your first break up and kiss, finding out who your real friends are, having family problems and more, its all in there. A lot of girls can relate to Josie and Rachel because we have all at some point have been though it. I found Rachel very mysterious in the previous book so I was very glad to get an insight into her personality and life. I was also curious about what she had with David and I can now say genuinely say that he is her rock and understands her most, but most of all what they have is real. The fact that it was 3am and everybody was asleep probably wasn't such a great idea that I was once again laughing and giggling like a loony. Through the switch they gain a certain respect for each other like "Hey maybe she hasn't got it all so good" kind of thing. Although I wouldn't say they were great friends, by the end of it they did develop a mutual understanding. David However, annoyed me a times because I felt he was to weak and played the "ohh but she needed me so, how was I supposed to resist? I have to say he did redeem himself in the end, and it was obvious who he was truly into. Josie's old best friend Hailey has come to stay, the only thing is? Tori isn't to happy about it. How is Rachel supposed to deal with two jealous best friends that aren't even hers and find Josie's boyfriend without knowing what happened between the two of them before the switch, better yet how can she fix things with David when she cant tell him who she is? Sounds complicated? Yet it wrapped up perfectly, I loved the fact that things weren't toned down, you know? I am glad with the way things turned out although perhaps a little sad, I guess I got attached to Josie, to Rachel in particular. Maybe there's more? Hahaha a girl can dream right? While Split By A Kiss sees one character split into two after a very important kiss, in Swapped By A Kiss, we see two of the main characters Jo and Rachel from Split swap bodies after another fateful kiss not with each other! The sight of David kissing perfect Jo at a music festival causes Rachel to run away and wish that her life were different. That she was different. It causes Rachel to wish that she were Jo. And with that, is the start of this hugely funny and touching novel. Seen mostly from Rachel's perspective, but with the added bonus of hilarious! Rachel is intent on getting revenge, but first she needs to know what happened. All isn't as it appears to me, it seems, and there a lot of questions to be asked. What I loved most about the book is how similar the thoughts of both Jo and Rachel are. They each believe that the other would have it easier or better. Each believes that the other's relationship is so much simpler and straight-forward. It's an easy thing to do, isn't it? To imagine another's person life as ideal. And what these two come to realise is that nobody's perfect and we all have our hang-ups. And we are able to see clearly how Rachel's body-size and how the actions and behaviours of those around her have caused her to say the things she does and behave in a certain way. Ways that seem to be pushing David, her best friend and boyfriend away. It's painfully obvious to readers how much Rachel is hurting and jealous about David and Jo's kiss, as well as how beat-up David is when Jo-in-Rachel's-body won't allow David to visit her. With her fiery personality and raging jealousy, arguments are common between click the following article two Jos Secret Kisses them. One such fight happens before David goes to England for a festival, but when Rachel decides to surprise him by turning up at the festival, he finds him kissing Jo. Jo splitting in two in the first book was just awesome.

Following her down two different paths at the same time was awesome, but watching Rachel in Jo's body, trying to be British Jos Secret Kisses nice was just genius! I didn't really relate all that much to Rachel, as she's hugely into graphic novels, comics and superheroes - not really my bag.

Jos Secret Kisses I sympathised with her and her situation. Not only are the guys in Rachel-Rachel's and Rachel-Jo's life "dastards", but there are more serious issues running through the book; identity and self-image. Before the swap took place, it was heart breaking to read Rachel's thoughts about herself, and about Jo.

What it says above in the blurb, "Super-lovely, super-loved, all-round perfect Jo," is exactly what Rachel thinks of her, where as she describes herself as "oversized". She believes she's a nightmare, and if she was Jo, Jos Secret Kisses wouldn't have to deal with the crap going on in her life, and Jos Secret Kisses would like her better - especially David.

It's just awful having to read about Jos Secret Kisses low self-esteem Jos Secret Kisses her other issues, and not being able to give her a hug. It's really sad!

Average Age First Blow Job

Jos Secret Kisses, this is not to say Swapped is hard, emotional reading. Swapped is quite a light, humourous read, and pretty fun. The scrapes Rachel gets herself into in Jo's body Jos Secret Kisses just hilarious. Attempting to use British words, and make up fake swear words - because that's what British people do - is cause for much laughter. Jo's diary entries of conversations she has with Rachel's mum, while pretending to be angry, unkind, and American are also hilarious.

All in all, a great quick, light, fun read that touches on some serious Jos Secret Kisses.

The book is told from the alternate point of view of Rachel-in-Jo's-Body and of Jo-in-Rachel's-body mostly as a journal. I loved the Jos Secret Kisses that both girls are highly unsatisfied in their lives and wish to be one another thinking the other has the perfect life. This is such a girl classic not to like oneself that is that I believe it comes as the trademark of all women alongside intelligence and an incredible sense of humour.

Jos Secret Kisses

Who's partial? In this book, you get to go beyond the wall Rachel built around herself and Jos Secret Kisses more about her, her demons and her past. I already enjoyed reading about her in the first book, and now I understand better why she is the way she is. Rachel and David's relationship appears rocky but they are so made for each other that it is insanely cute to read about Jos Secret Kisses.

The setting of the book is a Jos Secret Kisses in Jos Secret Kisses Link as opposed to a high school in the Jos Secret Kisses for Split by a Kiss and I loved the cultural difference between Europe and USA and how Tori and Rachel have several culture shock-related events which made me laugh out loud.

It was the same, though the other way around British Jo in America in the first book, and it is sooo hilarious!! She is most entirely awesome, and though she appears as an airhead, she is a great friend to Jo and Jos Secret Kisses Rachel.

I loved Jos Secret Kisses the relationship Rachel has with her mother, and how it evolves through the story. I found that the book was a lot about identity, and especially how our parents influence who we are. It makes one think about one's own life and identity. I mean, let's be honest, my parents, who have a bookshop, are entirely to blame for my book addiction!

In the last book I didn't like her because she just seemed like some moody girl that was mean to Jo. But hearing things from her point of view really changed my mind. Rachel was so insecure, and I felt really sorry for her. She thought she was fat, and that no-one liked her, and it was just awful hearing her hate herself so much. OK, I know she's not real, but she seemed real to me! She was cynical, which was actually very funny, when you get over the mean part! But towards the end, she starts to be nicer to people, and realises she can make more friends by just being herself. This is honestly probably one of the funniest books I've ever read! The book any teenage girl would love, a modern twist on freaky friday.

I really and truly loved these characters, so very real and vulnerable. Thank you so much to Luisa Plaja for sending me this book. It's incredible and comes very highly recommended from me! Nov 16, Sophie rated it really liked it Shelves: Swapped by a Kiss is the third - and my favourite - novel by Luisa Plaja. I loved it; it was so much fun! As the sequel of sorts to Split by a Kiss , we move away from Jo and focus on Rachel, one of the friends Jo made in Boston. I really liked Rachel then, and after reading her story, I love her even more. There are lots of issues and mysteries surrounding her and her family though which make for some very surprising plot twists. I was taken by surpri Swapped by a Kiss is the third - and my favourite - novel by Luisa Plaja. I was taken by surprise quite a few times! I love the body-swapping idea. It should be prescribed for every teenager! But even with all of the self-discovery, Swapped by a Kiss is brilliantly funny. Another of the things that I really loved about Rachel is her love of superheroes and graphic novels. It can be quite hard to find that in a heroine. I even asked for the Season 1 DVD for my birthday. Feb 06, Cliona rated it it was amazing. I've read Split by a Kiss, one of Luisa's other books, which I loved, so I was really excited to read this book. And I was right, because I think this is Luisa's best book yet! Well, considering I haven't read Extreme Kissing but still Tori wasn't my favourite character in this book, because I thought seemed even more vain than in the last one. She just got on my nerves sometimes. But her ditziness was hilarious at times! This time around, my favourite character was definitely Rachel. In th I've read Split by a Kiss, one of Luisa's other books, which I loved, so I was really excited to read this book. I haven't read many books that have actually made me laugh out loud. But Luisa Plaja is just such a fantastic author, it's hard not to laugh! My rating? One of my new favourite girly reads, sure to cheer you up and make you laugh when your feelin' down! I love that word. OK, random. Bye bye! Apr 13, Nina rated it really liked it. Swapped by a Kiss is the companion novel or the sequel from Split by a Kiss. I enjoyed the first book and therefore knew that this one was going to be fun to read. And I was so right. At first I had a hard time liking her, but I knew from the first book that it was all a front. A front to not let the people she love too close. The Swapped by a Kiss is the companion novel or the sequel from Split by a Kiss. The plot is as fun as always. I liked that the story took place in London. It gave an other vibe to it then the first book. I have to say that halfway in the story it dragged a bit, but because I wanted to know what the deal was with David I read further. So people read further, because the pace changes in the middle! I recommend Swapped by a Kiss for fans of the movie Freaky Friday. And if you dream about swapping lives with someone you should read these books. They are cute, fun and adorable. Oct 28, Kami marked it as unfinished. This wasn't really my kind of book, but I can see others really liking it. For me, there just wasn't enough going on to keep it really interesting. I took a long time to read the book because it was slow. I can see a lot of teenage girls liking this book though. Switching bodies with someone is something I've thought about, and I liked how the author showed that it wasn't all fun and games. Everyone's life is complicated. I wish they had shown more of Jo in Rachel's body. The boo This wasn't really my kind of book, but I can see others really liking it. The book is mostly from the point of view of Rachel in Jo's body. I liked Rachel, but I don't think a girl like her would have been able to pull off getting along with all of Jo's friends. I think Tori or someone would have noticed more of a difference. The side characters were a bit 2 dimensional. Overall it was ok. It's not a typical book I would read, but I think a lot of teenage girls would enjoy it. May 22, Cass - Words on Paper rated it really liked it Shelves: I won this novel for the first reads program. I'm very satisfied with the read. I liked the characters- they were all different and interesting in their own ways, the writing was nice and consistent through and through. The concept of story was derived from Freaky Friday, but under a whole new cast with different problems. While I didn't read the first book "Split by a Kiss", of which "Swapped by a Kiss" is a sequel, I became quickly attuned to what was what and who was who, and a clear picture I won this novel for the first reads program. While I didn't read the first book "Split by a Kiss", of which "Swapped by a Kiss" is a sequel, I became quickly attuned to what was what and who was who, and a clear picture of everything was eventually solidified. Instead, she finds herself trapped inside the body of none other than Jo herself! Will she and Jo find a way to switch back, or will they be stuck forever? Luisa Plaja's British chick-lit is full of spunk and sass. Rachel and Jo epitomize the time old, if not slightly overused, tale about walking in another person's shoes literally to figure out what their life is like. The pace at times lags, but the characters do have a realism that will make them relatable to any girl who has ever been in love. Feb 12, Rachel Sh rated it really liked it. Traci tube Watch Video Naked millf. Jo splitting in two in the first book was just awesome. Following her down two different paths at the same time was awesome, but watching Rachel in Jo's body, trying to be British and nice was just genius! I didn't really relate all that much to Rachel, as she's hugely into graphic novels, comics and superheroes - not really my bag. But I sympathised with her and her situation. She believes she's a nightmare, and if she was Jo, she wouldn't have to deal with the crap going on in her life, and everyone would like her better - especially David. It's just awful having to read about Rachel's low self-esteem and her other issues, and not being able to give her a hug. It's really sad! However, this is not to say Swapped is hard, emotional reading. Swapped is quite a light, humourous read, and pretty fun. The scrapes Rachel gets herself into in Jo's body are just hilarious. Attempting to use British words, and make up fake swear words - because that's what British people do - is cause for much laughter. Jo's diary entries of conversations she has with Rachel's mum, while pretending to be angry, unkind, and American are also hilarious. All in all, a great quick, light, fun read that touches on some serious subjects. This would make such a good beach read! I loved it, and I so hope there is going to be another story about these characters. Maybe involving one of the boys this time! Aug 30, Caro rated it really liked it Shelves: As much as I loved the character of Jo, I found it harder to get into Rachel's head. Rachel is the tough cookie, she snaps before she says "hi" and she is, all in all, someone who makes it incredibly hard to love her. Never one to admit defeat in the face of adversity yes, I just said that about a book , I have persisted in my quest to like Rachel, not only for her badass feminist attitude, but also for her real slightly hidden personality. The book is told from the alternate point of view of R As much as I loved the character of Jo, I found it harder to get into Rachel's head. The book is told from the alternate point of view of Rachel-in-Jo's-Body and of Jo-in-Rachel's-body mostly as a journal. I loved the idea that both girls are highly unsatisfied in their lives and wish to be one another thinking the other has the perfect life. This is such a girl classic not to like oneself that is that I believe it comes as the trademark of all women alongside intelligence and an incredible sense of humour. Who's partial? In this book, you get to go beyond the wall Rachel built around herself and learn more about her, her demons and her past. I already enjoyed reading about her in the first book, and now I understand better why she is the way she is. Rachel and David's relationship appears rocky but they are so made for each other that it is insanely cute to read about them. The setting of the book is a Festival in the UK as opposed to a high school in the US for Split by a Kiss and I loved the cultural difference between Europe and USA and how Tori and Rachel have several culture shock-related events which made me laugh out loud. It was the same, though the other way around British Jo in America in the first book, and it is sooo hilarious!! She is most entirely awesome, and though she appears as an airhead, she is a great friend to Jo and then Rachel. I loved discovering the relationship Rachel has with her mother, and how it evolves through the story. I found that the book was a lot about identity, and especially how our parents influence who we are. It makes one think about one's own life and identity. I mean, let's be honest, my parents, who have a bookshop, are entirely to blame for my book addiction! This book is a sweet and fun read, you will laugh out loud when the characters end up in the funniest situations and will fall for all the characters, even the ones only present for a couple of pages. Jo thought David and Rachel were a fiery couple, full of passion and romance, but that also led to the occasional break-up. Rachel thought Jo had perfect everything, clothes, hair and the perfect 'rock-god' boyfriend Albie. So If your ever feeling down and need a fix up, need to smile and laugh away? Then this is the series for you, it brought back some great memories and plenty of smiles on the way and I am truly going to miss it! I open my mouth And i mean giant. It feels like it goes on forever, in slow motion, amplified by the microphone. Bahahaha xD View 1 comment. Feb 03, Michelle Fluttering Butterflies rated it it was amazing Shelves: I loved this book. I think Luisa Plaja tells a great story with some truly fantastic characters that end up in the funniest circumstances. A body-swap novel? How much more fun can you get? But as much as I was laughing at the misunderstandings and the terrible attempts of an American passing as someone from England, I was also really touched by Rachel's insecurities about her size and her relationship with David. And appealing to my inner-nerd are Rachel's forays into writing her own graphi AWW! And appealing to my inner-nerd are Rachel's forays into writing her own graphic novel and Jo's obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
